Q.S.S. Rare Vinho Verde NV is a vibrant and refreshing expression of Portugal's iconic Vinho Verde style, crafted by the esteemed Quinta de São Sebastião winery. Meaning “green wine,” the name “Vinho Verde” is not only a protected DOC label for this iconic appellation, it’s a reference to its youth. Most typically sold non-vintage, these wines are designed to be enjoyed as fresh as possible. Q.S.S. Rare’s version is made from a carefully selected blend of Arinto, Loureiro, and Trajadura grapes, grown in the granitic soils of the Lisbon region, just inland from the cooling Atlantic breezes. In the glass, Q.S.S. Rare Vinho Verde shimmers with a pale lemon hue, capturing the essence of its bright, lively character. The nose offers an enticing medley of citrus and green apple aromas, underpinned by a crisp minerality that hints at the maritime influence of its terroir. On the palate, this wine bursts forth with flavors of lemon zest, lime, and subtle hints of white peach, seamlessly balanced by a bracing acidity that delivers a clean and invigorating mouthfeel. There is a light effervescence—an almost imperceptible sparkle—typical of Vinho Verde, which adds to its playful and youthful energy. The finish is delicate yet persistent, leaving behind a lingering impression of citrus and a faint salinity that calls to mind sea spray. Despite its refreshing nature, Q.S.S. Rare Vinho Verde also has a subtle depth and texture, thanks to careful winemaking that preserves the wine's natural expression of fruit and terroir. Served chilled to 43°-46° F, this wine is perfect as a summer sipper. And, beyond its bright and zesty flavors, each bottle supports wildlife conservation, adding an extra layer of purpose to every glass poured. This harmonious blend of taste, terroir, and environmental stewardship truly makes Q.S.S. Rare Vinho Verde a wine to savor and celebrate.

Q.S.S. Rare Vinho Verde, with its lively citrus notes, vibrant acidity, and refreshing effervescence, is a perfect companion for a variety of dishes. Its bright and zesty profile harmonizes beautifully with fresh seafood—think oysters, clams, or grilled shrimp—where the wine's natural minerality complements the brininess of the sea. It also pairs exceptionally well with sushi and sashimi, enhancing delicate fish flavors without overpowering them. For vegetarian fare, try it alongside crisp green salads with citrusy vinaigrettes, or vegetable spring rolls, where its citrusy tang accentuates fresh herbal notes. Light pasta dishes with lemony sauces or goat cheese also find a perfect match in this wine’s clean, slightly spritzy character. The wine’s bright acidity can even tame the spice of Asian dishes, making it an excellent pairing for Thai or Vietnamese cuisine. Altogether, Q.S.S. Rare Vinho Verde is a versatile and food-friendly wine that elevates any light, fresh, and vibrant meal.

Q.S.S. Rare is a distinguished wine label produced by Quinta de São Sebastião, a historic estate nestled in Arruda dos Vinhos, a sub-region of Portugal's Lisbon wine area. Established in 1755, the same year a devastating earthquake struck the region, Quinta de São Sebastião has a rich history that spans over three centuries. The tradition of winemaking in Arruda dos Vinhos itself dates back more than a millennium, making it one of Portugal's most storied viticultural areas.

The vineyards of Quinta de São Sebastião are situated on gentle slopes with altitudes ranging from 70 to 450 meters. These hillside vineyards benefit from excellent sun exposure and a Mediterranean climate tempered by the Atlantic Ocean, located approximately 35 kilometers away. The soils are predominantly clay-limestone, providing an ideal terroir for cultivating a variety of grape varietals.

The Q.S.S. Rare line was created with a dual purpose: to produce vibrant, modern wines from this ancient terroir and to support the conservation of endangered wildlife. A portion of each sale is donated to organizations dedicated to preventing the extinction of species crucial to the environment, such as tigers, seahorses, and the Iberian lynx.

Under the guidance of winemaker Filipe Sevinate Pinto, who has been with the winery since 2012, Q.S.S. Rare offers a range of wines that showcase both indigenous and international grape varieties. The winery's commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed. Q.S.S. Rare wines have garnered numerous awards, including Gold Medals at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and the Berlin Wine Trophy.

Visitors to Quinta de São Sebastião can immerse themselves in the estate's rich history and winemaking process through various wine tourism experiences. These include estate walking tours, jeep rides to scenic viewpoints, horse riding, and wine tastings that feature the Q.S.S. Rare range.

In summary, Q.S.S. Rare represents a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, offering wines that not only delight the palate but also contribute to the preservation of our planet's biodiversity.
