Deep ruby with purple highlights, the 2023 Method Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon offers an inviting combination of blackberry, dark cherry, and plum. Notes of cassis, cocoa, cedar, and vanilla add depth to its concentrated fruit character. On the palate, the wine combines generous dark-fruit flavors with a smooth texture and well-integrated tannins. Its richness is balanced by freshness, while the oak contributes supporting complexity rather than overwhelming the fruit. A persistent finish carries the berry and cocoa impressions forward, creating a structured yet approachable expression of Napa Valley Cabernet. Tri-
We’d pair this Cabernet with grilled steak, roast lamb, braised beef, or a hearty mushroom dish. Its dark-fruit character and tannic structure should also work well alongside aged cheddar or beef short ribs. Filet mignon with a red-wine sauce is a particularly fitting option and appears among Cauble’s suggested accompaniments. Serve at 60–65°F; a brief 20–30-minute decant is recommended, though not essential.
Precision Wine Company grew out of Trevor Sheehan’s interest in the wines of California and France. Before establishing his business in Napa, Sheehan spent nearly a decade collecting and trading wine while learning from winemakers in Bordeaux and Burgundy. In 2010, he moved from Dallas to Napa, developing a collection of wines intended to showcase California’s diverse growing regions while offering an approachable alternative to more expensive bottlings.
Method brings together Sheehan’s winemaking experience and the expertise of Master Sommelier Ian Cauble. Their shared goal was to produce expressive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon through careful sourcing and an emphasis on value. According to Cauble, the 2023 Napa bottling draws primarily from two vineyard parcels, one in western Oakville and another near St. Helena. Small-lot fermentations and French oak aging support a winemaking approach centered on fruit purity, balance, and structure, rather than allowing the oak to dominate.
