Casas del Bosque continues its spate of 90+ point ratings with its decadent, highly polished 2019 Casas del Bosque Valle del Maipo Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon (91 Points – Vinous; 91 Points – James Suckling). Sporting a deep purple color and redolent with the savory scents of blackberry, strawberry, and raspberry, all nicely imbued with deft touches of dark chocolate and mint, the ebullient 2019 Casas del Bosque Valle del Maipo Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon had us at the first sniff. In the mouth, the wine reveals its elegance as well as its concentration with a delicious mélange of berry fruit, red pepper, dark chocolate, and spice. Ripe, well integrated tannins provide backbone and structure on which this balanced and complex Cabernet Sauvignon flows to a long vibrant finish. Although drinking beautifully now, the 2019 Casas del Bosque Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon will continue to improve in bottle and provide superb drinking pleasure for many years. For optimal enjoyment, we suggest affording Casas del Bosque’s 2019 Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon at least 20-30 minutes of aeration before serving at cool room temperature (60°-64° F). Anticipated maturity: 2023-2028. Enjoy!

In Chile, prime cuts of beef, lamb, and pork are the preferred accompaniments to the country’s premier Cabernet wines, making the 2019 Casas del Bosque Casablanca Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon an ideal companion. Prime rib of beef au jus with organic Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and roasted green beans; herb encrusted beef tenderloin served with truffle fries and roasted Brussels sprouts; and wild boar served over tagliatelle pasta with sautéed vegetables all provide splendid accompaniments to Casas del Bosque’s delicious 2019 Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon. A North American specialty, bison, either as burgers or as a meatloaf, the latter a tasty combination of grass fed bison prepared with a mushroom demi-glaze and served with seasonal vegetables, also makes a wonderful accompaniment to the 2019 Casas del Bosque 2019 Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon. For a tasty vegetarian pairing, consider tagliatelle pasta with tricolored tomatoes, wild mushrooms, roasted pistachio pesto, crispy shallots, and the finest Parmigiano Reggiano. Buen Provecho!

Casas del Bosque’s highly acclaimed 2019 Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon makes an ideal companion to many of the world’s finest cheeses. Mahón from Spain’s Balearic island of Menorca truly shines in the company of the 2019 Casas del Bosque Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged Cheddar, Gouda, and Comté make tasty partners, too, as will most cow and sheep’s milk cheeses. To enjoy the world’s best cheeses, join us at www.cheesemonthclub.com.

Casas del Bosque continues its quest to become the most lauded Chilean winery of the decade. Each successive wine release from this boutique winery raises the bar to which other wineries can only aspire. Should anyone be surprised? Casas del Bosque has continuously pushed the envelope on quality through excellent vineyard management, site selection, and meticulous attention in the cellar since springing to life in 1993, gaining high praise from consumers and critics alike.

Located just 50 miles from Santiago, Chile’s capital, and 18 miles from Valparaiso, Chile’s colorful principal port, Casas del Bosque is a family owned boutique winery whose mission is the production of the highest quality wines. By all accounts, including an enviable string of 90+ point ratings from world renowned critics, Casas del Bosque is not only fulfilling its mission, it has set the standards of excellence among Chile’s premium producers throughout the country. This boutique operation cultivates its own vineyards in the Casablanca Valley, the preferred place for premium white wine production and cool climate red varietals. They also have significant vineyard holdings in the premier red wine producing valleys of Maipo and Rapel south of Santiago, areas noted for fashioning exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère. Casas del Bosque’s meticulous attention to vineyard management and careful site and varietal selection guarantee superior fruit for the winery’s portfolio of high quality wines. Such care reveals itself in each of this property’s prodigious wines, and it has earned Casas del Bosque the distinction of Chilean Winery of the Year at the International Wine and Spirits Competition in London multiple years.

Presently, Casas del Bosque has more than 500 acres of vines under cultivation, spread throughout Chile’s best viticultural valleys and microclimates. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Riesling hail from the winery’s superb Casablanca holdings and form the backbone of the estate’s white wine portfolio. Exceptional Pinot Noir and Syrah are also cultivated by Casas del Bosque in Casablanca. Casas del Bosque’s exceptional ultra-premium Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon red wines emanate from the warmer Rapel and Maipo valleys. The winery’s Gran Reserva (the 2019 Casas del Bosque Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon is this month’s feature) and Pequeñas Producciones (meaning very limited productions) are Casas del Bosque’s true luxury offerings.
