Nectarine and lime zest introduce this lively Pinot Gris, accompanied by a delicate floral impression reminiscent of lavender. Bright lemon-lime flavors bring energy to the palate, while nuances of green tea and a gentle honey-like accent add interest. That honey impression should not be confused with sweetness: the winery describes the 2023 vintage as dry, with virtually no residual sugar. Vibrant acidity gives the wine its refreshing character, while the fruit and floral details keep the presentation expressive. The overall balance favors freshness and aromatic definition, creating a white wine with both lift and personality.
We’d pair this Pinot Gris with grilled shrimp, seared scallops, or baked white fish with lemon and herbs. Its citrus character and lively acidity also suggest lemon-roasted chicken or a vegetable salad with a light vinaigrette. For a straightforward match, try sautéed sole with fresh herbs and a squeeze of lemon. Suggested serving temperature: 45–50°F.
Silvan Ridge’s history reaches back to Oregon wine pioneer Doyle Hinman, who planted grapes in the southern Willamette Valley in 1972 and founded Hinman Vineyards in 1979. Carolyn Chambers purchased the winery in 1993, beginning more than three decades of stewardship by three generations of the Chambers family. In April 2026, the Hinman family reacquired the property and announced its return to the Hinman Vineyards name. This 2023 bottling belongs to the winery’s Silvan Ridge chapter, connecting it with that continuing regional story.
The Willamette Valley lies between Oregon’s Coast Range and Cascade Mountains, with a growing season shaped by warm summer days, cool evenings, and a gradual transition into autumn. Although best known for Pinot Noir, the region also has a strong tradition of Pinot Gris production. Its growing conditions allow grapes to develop flavor while retaining freshness, providing a fitting setting for the bright, dry style represented by this wine.
