Brilliant ruby red in the glass, Pèppoli 2024 opens with an energetic display of fresh cherry, raspberry jelly and pomegranate. Floral aromas of violet and geranium add classic Tuscan character and lift. The palate is equally lively, beginning with a fresh, energetic entry before developing into a juicy and flavorful mid-palate. Sangiovese’s natural brightness keeps the ripe red fruit beautifully defined, while soft, sweet tannins give the wine an inviting texture. The finish is long and distinctly savory, balancing fruit and freshness in a polished style that remains immediately approachable while retaining unmistakable Chianti Classico personality. Pèppoli’s bright acidity and supple tannins make it exceptionally comfortable at the table. Pair it with pasta Bolognese, lasagna, pizza with sausage and mushrooms or grilled vegetables. It also complements roast pork, grilled steak, chicken cacciatore and Tuscan-style sausages. For cheese, choose Pecorino Toscano, aged Parmesan or another firm Italian cheese. Tomato-based dishes are particularly successful because the wine’s lively acidity mirrors their natural brightness.

Marchesi Antinori is one of Tuscany’s historic wine families, with centuries of winemaking tradition closely intertwined with the development of fine Italian wine. Pèppoli comes from the family’s Tenuta Pèppoli, situated in the Chianti Classico region near San Casciano Val di Pesa. The estate covers approximately 100 hectares, with about half devoted to vineyards, and is also known for its olive oil and traditional wine vinegar.

Pèppoli Chianti Classico was first produced in 1985 and was conceived to emphasize the fresh, floral and fruit-driven personality of Sangiovese. Since 2013, part of the harvest has been vinified at Antinori’s Chianti Classico winery. The 2024 is predominantly Sangiovese with complementary varieties. Following fermentation and malolactic fermentation, the wine matures primarily in large Slavonian oak barrels, with smaller portions handled in barriques and stainless steel, preserving its lively fruit while adding subtle complexity.
