At the southern edge of Tuscany’s iconic Brunello di Montalcino region, overlooking the winding Orcia River, lies one of Italy’s most storied estates—Col d’Orcia. With roots tracing back to the 1890s, the estate was originally part of Fattoria di Sant’Angelo in Colle and played a pioneering role in showcasing Brunello to the world, appearing at Siena’s wine fair as early as 1933.
The name Col d’Orcia was officially adopted in 1958, and in 1973, the estate was purchased by the Cinzano family—famed producers with centuries of winemaking heritage. Under the leadership of Count Francesco Marone Cinzano, the estate expanded dramatically, now covering over 140 hectares of vineyards, with more than 100 hectares devoted exclusively to Brunello, making it one of the region’s largest and most respected producers.
But size is only part of the story. Col d’Orcia is proudly certified organic—a title it has held since 2013—and is now recognized as the largest organic estate in all of Tuscany. Nestled on the rolling southeast slopes of Monte Amiata, the vineyards benefit from a unique microclimate: sun-soaked days, cooling sea breezes, and mineral-rich clay-limestone soils. Here, sustainability isn’t a trend—it’s a philosophy, with cover crops, composting, biodiversity, and even sheep grazing woven into their vineyard management.
From their flagship Brunello di Montalcino and the age-worthy Poggio al Vento Riserva, to expressive Rosso di Montalcino and elegant Toscana IGT reds, every bottle of Col d’Orcia reflects a commitment to land, legacy, and low-intervention winemaking.
For those who crave heritage with heart—and Brunello with a soul—Col d’Orcia is more than a wine. It’s a piece of Montalcino history, poured into every glass.
