Big, beautiful, opaque in color, and boasting 93 points from Wine Enthusiast, the 2015 Château Coutet Saint-Émilion Grand Cru makes a bold statement from the moment it is poured. Endowed with rich blackberry, cassis and raspberry fruit, tremendous depth and complexity, and the potential to age gracefully with supreme elegance, the 2015 Château Coutet makes a great case for this certified organic property and the quality of the outstanding 2015 vintage. Ripe berries, dark chocolate, and hints of clean unsmoked tobacco emerge in the center of this boldly proportioned wine, thanks to the quality and sizeable portion of ripe Cabernet Franc in the blend. Firm, ripe tannins provide balance, structure, and the backbone for this wine to age beautifully for more than a decade. For optimum enjoyment we suggest decanting the 2015 Château Coutet Saint-Émilion Grand Cru an hour or more before serving. Better still, consider adding bottles of this collectable Saint-Émilion Grand Cru to your cellar to collect dividends as there is no finer Saint-Émilion Grand Cru at this price than the 2015 Château Coutet, and the remaining supply is highly allocated. Enjoy!

Bold, hedonistic-styled young Bordeaux reds such as the 2015 Château Coutet Saint-Émilion Grand Cru provide the ideal companion to simple, well prepared dishes as well as complex cuisine. For this reason, fine Saint-Émilion Grand Cru makes for a great dinner party wine. A bone-in veal chop prepared with a tasty brown sauce offers a delicious accompaniment. Roast beef, especially Prime Rib, affords yet another opportunity to showcase Château Coutet’s wonderful Saint Émilion Grand Cru. When served with mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, and braised pearl onions, the Château Coutet and Prime Rib form a bond that lasts until the bottle lies empty. Mature bottles of the 2015 Château Coutet will also make good companions to roast duck or game hens served with wild rice or an onion and sage stuffing. And for those disciplined souls who may at the end of a meal still have a bit of this tasty St. Émilion Grand Cru in their glass, we suggest they drain those glasses in the company of a selection of French cheeses that include Cantal and Port Salut. A votre santé!

Saint-Émilion has reigned as Bordeaux’s most illustrious wine town since Roman times, while Saint-Émilion’s wines continue to constitute many of the greatest red wines in all of Bordeaux. A recent visit to Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion confirmed just how superb the 2015 and 2016 offerings are in Saint-Émilion from the two very best back to back vintages in decades. One of the great stars to emerge from this tasting tour is Château Coutet, a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, which over-delivers in every way.

Château Coutet lies at the center of the picturesque Saint-Émilion appellation, just half a kilometer from the walls of the town. It is surrounded by Saint-Émilion’s most renowned Premier Grand Crus, Angélus, Beauséjour-Becot and Beauséjour-Duffau, and its viticulture is 100% certified organic. According to the Beaulieu family, who have been continuous proprietors since 1764, “no weed killer or pesticide has ever been used. It is one of the rare places of the Saint-Émilion region where some spinneys of pedunculated oaks, holm oaks, and sessile oaks subsist… Both the varied flora and diversified fauna enable the vines to thrive without any synthetic additive.” Few Bordeaux châteaux or wineries around the world are able to claim such a long, uninterrupted history of organic viticulture as Château Coutet, nor do those others consistently produce such high quality wines. The Beaulieu family invites visitors to walk through Coutet with its rich natural flora and fauna at any time of the year. No wonder Saint-Émilion and the appellation’s vineyards are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
