The 2020 Château Cabezac Alice Minervois Blanc may just be one of the Languedoc’s best kept secrets. Known more for its red wines, the region’s well-made white wines often slip under the radar. But not ours. Bestowed with a brilliant sun-kissed robe, an enticing aroma of acacia flowers, tropical fruits, anise, and wild herbs, as well as lip smacking palate appeal, the 2020 Château Cabezac Alice Minervois Blanc is simply hard to resist. The palate is soft, round and surprisingly fresh with Meyer lemon, tangerine, and tropical fruit flavors to tantalize the tongue. Add juicy acidity and a laser-like finish and one can not only enjoy this thoroughly engaging white wine but recall the sun splashed landscapes of southern France. Fresh, clean, and packed with flavor, Château Cabezac’s 2020 Alice Minverois Blanc is an all-year-round crowd pleaser. Enjoy this delightful white wine early and often, moderately chilled (40°-45° F). Anticipated maturity: 2021-2025. Santé!

The 2020 Château Cabezac Alice Minervois Blanc makes an ideal aperitif as well as a fine companion to seafood, poultry, pasta dishes, and many kinds of cheeses. Crab legs or lobster with drawn butter, Shrimp Neapolitan (perfectly cooked shrimp in a heady sauce of garlic, butter, olive oil, fresh parsley, and Parmesan cheese), and shellfish, raw or sautéed, all make fine companions to the energetic 2020 Château Cabezac Alice Minervois Blanc. Chicken and Mushrooms with roasted garlic and Penne Pasta Provençal with fire roasted tomatoes, wild herbs, artichokes, black olives, and capers earn two thumbs up as well. Château Cabezac’s 2020 Alice Minervois Blanc also makes an ideal companion to a gourmet cheese platter of cow, goat, and sheep’s milk cheeses. Add toasted walnuts to the cheese selection and you’ll almost certainly need to have an additional bottle or two of this tasty extroverted white wine on hand. Bon appétit!

Château Cabezac has emerged as one of the stars of Minervois, an ancient viticultural area that has enjoyed an enviable reputation for continuously producing fine wine since Roman times. Under the guidance of the late Gontran Dondain who acquired Château Cabezac in 1997, Château Cabezac has joined a growing number of prized Languedoc estates in fashioning high quality, crowd pleasing wines at a price most of us can afford. Gontran’s highly competent daughter Stéphanie has taken over the helm at Château Cabezac since Gontran’s passing in early 2020.

Father and daughter worked for years to bring this 185-acre property to its present state. Located in the heart of Languedoc-Roussillon, the estate is located in 5 different localities, all within the AOP Minervois. All of the vineyards are farmed using sustainable agricultural practices and the Dondains modernized the property’s ancient winery in order to fully exploit the estate’s excellent terroir. Red wine predominates at this well-run property as it does throughout Languedoc-Roussillon. Château Cabezac is best known for its Minervois Tradition Rouge, though Château Cabezac’s Blanc Alice, a delicious blend of Grenache Blanc, Maccabeu, and Roussanne, is equally compelling. We invite you to taste and enjoy!
