This wine presents a deep ruby color. Aromas feature dark cherry, spice, and subtle herbal notes, with the potential to develop balsamic complexity over time. On the palate, it is structured yet balanced, with firm but integrated tannins. Flavors of dark fruit and spice are supported by a compact, well-defined texture. The finish is long and persistent, reflecting both the wine’s structure and aging potential. Serve at 60–65°F for optimal balance.

Castello del Trebbio’s Chianti Rufina Riserva D.O.C.G. comes from one of Tuscany’s most historic and respected subzones. Rufina, located northeast of Florence, is known for its higher elevations and cooler climate compared to other Chianti areas, producing wines with greater structure, acidity, and aging potential.

According to the producer sheet, this wine is made primarily from Sangiovese (90%) with small amounts of Merlot and Syrah. Grapes are sourced from high-altitude vineyards at approximately 450 meters, where clay soils with limestone content provide drainage and contribute to structure. Harvesting is done manually, with careful selection of fruit.

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by extended aging—approximately 20 months in a combination of barrels and tonneaux, then additional bottle aging. This process results in a wine designed for longevity, with the ability to age for many years while developing additional complexity.
