The 2024 O Rosal is complex and aromatic, opening with ripe stone fruit, particularly peach, alongside pineapple and orange peel. Floral accents and clean earthy-mineral nuances add depth, while hints of laurel and menthol bring a distinctive herbal freshness. The palate is generous yet energetic, balancing impressive structure and volume with vibrant acidity. A gently creamy texture provides richness without sacrificing freshness. Albariño supplies ripe fruit, Caíño Blanco contributes mineral tension and acidity, and Loureira lifts the aromatic profile. The finish is long, lively and refreshing, revealing the blend’s balance of fruit, texture and Atlantic character.
Seafood is a classic choice, particularly oysters, mussels, scallops, grilled shrimp or a traditional Galician seafood platter. The wine also has enough body for richer preparations, including fish with cream sauces, chicken and rice dishes or flavorful Asian cuisine. Try it with grilled swordfish, crab cakes or seafood paella. Its combination of acidity and creamy texture can also complement soft cheeses and vegetable dishes.
Bodegas Terras Gauda is based in O Rosal, a subregion of Rías Baixas in Galicia, northwestern Spain. Established in 1990, the winery has become closely associated with the distinctive white wines of this Atlantic-influenced region. Its vineyards occupy slopes where schist soils, mild temperatures and abundant rainfall help create wines combining ripe fruit with refreshing acidity and mineral character. Grapes are harvested by hand, and the winery separately vinifies its principal varieties before determining the final blend.
The flagship Terras Gauda O Rosal is more than a varietal Albariño. The 2024 combines 70% Albariño, 25% Caíño Blanco and 5% Loureira. Albariño supplies fruit and structure; indigenous Caíño Blanco contributes acidity, minerality and distinctive regional character; and Loureira provides floral and balsamic aromatic intensity. Together they offer a particularly expressive portrait of O Rosal and the maritime personality of Rías Baixas.
