Feudi di San Marzano\u2019s 2010 Primitivo is unquestionably one of this month\u2019s top Premier Series picks.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 It tastes great, and it could easily serve as the poster child for Primitivo \u2013 the missing link to California\u2019s Zinfandel.\u00a0 Yes, Primitivo, the ancient early ripening varietal that hails from Greece and\/or the northern Balkans is the forbearer of California Zinfandel.\u00a0 Primitivo was most likely brought to southern Italy more than 2,500 years ago by the Greeks, who named Apulia and the nearby Italian peninsula Enotria \u2013 land of the vine \u2013 because of Apulia\u2019s natural proclivity for the production of wine.\u00a0 Today, Primitivo remains one of the most important grape varietals of southern Apulia, especially on the Salento Peninsula.\u00a0 Moreover, Feudi di San Marzano\u2019s Primitivo is the ideal accompaniment to southern Italy\u2019s signature dishes.<\/p>\n
