Although there are many different clones of Syrah and Shiraz (as there are for Cabernet, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and most other varietals) and culture, terroir, and winemakers\u2019 choices account for varying flavors and styles, Syrah and Shiraz share the same DNA \u2013 fraternal twins at the very least, if not identical twins. And over the last two decades, Syrah has steadily gained traction in California, too, expanding rapidly in acreage and eliciting countless accolades for the burgeoning number of its clan that have gained favor for consistently over-delivering. Whether from Napa, Sonoma, or Santa Barbara\u2019s Ballard Canyon, Syrah now more than ever gives Cabernet a run for its money in California. Look to the likes of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.winemonthclub.com\/beckmen-vineyards-purisima-mountain-ballard-syrah-2013.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Beckmen<\/strong><\/a>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.winemonthclub.com\/stolpman-vineyards-ballard-canyon-estate-syrah-2012.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stolpman<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.winemonthclub.com\/tierra-y-mar-russian-river-syrah-2014.htm?catid=1169\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tierra y Mar<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>for quality and value, with the latter perhaps California\u2019s greatest value \u2013 a very reasonably priced Syrah that emanates from Sonoma\u2019s Russian River and the hands of Douglas Danielak, one of California\u2019s most sought-after winemakers. And let\u2019s not forget the elegant, complex, downright stunning Syrahs from Chilean producer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=7&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjfypCB49bTAhUP4GMKHQ_eDMcQFghCMAY&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.winemonthclub.com%2Fcasas-bosque-casablanca-valley-pequenas-producciones-syrah-2014.htm&amp;usg=AFQjCNHv-4paV2LgHaHVvwoeCzGP_GEoUg&amp;sig2=tRCwsP07CwEn75gbOP_gug\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Casas del Bosque<\/strong><\/a> or the deep, rich Shiraz wines that flow from South Africa.
