{"id":3702,"date":"2016-06-06T15:00:29","date_gmt":"2016-06-06T22:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.winemonthclub.com\/blog\/?p=3702"},"modified":"2016-05-09T13:23:29","modified_gmt":"2016-05-09T20:23:29","slug":"seared-tuna-mango-salsa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winemonthclub.com\/blog\/seared-tuna-mango-salsa\/","title":{"rendered":"Seared Tuna with Mango Salsa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.winemonthclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Seared-Tuna-with-Mango-Salsa.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3703\" src=\"http:\/\/www.winemonthclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Seared-Tuna-with-Mango-Salsa-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"Seared Tuna with Mango Salsa\" width=\"394\" height=\"274\" \/><\/a>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 tablespoons good olive oil, plus extra for searing<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups diced yellow onion (2 onions)<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons peeled, minced fresh ginger<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 teaspoons minced garlic<\/li>\n<li>2 ripe mangos, peeled, seeded, and small diced<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons light brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon kosher salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper<\/li>\n<li>1 to 2 teaspoons minced fresh jalapeno pepper, to taste (1 pepper)<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons minced fresh mint leaves<\/li>\n<li>2 tuna steaks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n<p>Saute the olive oil, onions, and ginger in a large saute pan over medium-low heat for 10 minutes, or until the onions are translucent. Add the garlic and cook for 1 more minute. Add the mangos, reduce the heat to low and cook for 10 more minutes. Add the orange juice, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and jalapeno; cook for 10 more minutes, until orange juice is reduced, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and add the mint. Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled.<\/p>\n<p>Heat a saute pan over high heat for 5 minutes until very hot. Season the tuna liberally with salt and pepper. When the pan is very hot, add a drizzle of olive oil and then the tuna steaks. Sear for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until the outside is browned, but the inside is very rare.<\/p>\n<p>Serve the tuna on top of the mango salsa.<\/p>\n<p><em>Recipe from Ina Garten courtesy
