Who ever heard of ugly wine country?\u00a0 For any true lover of wine there\u2019s really no bad wine travel destination, but some are better than others.\u00a0 It depends upon what you like.\u00a0 If you\u2019re the Disneyland type, leave the passport home and head on up to Napa Valley: you won\u2019t be disappointed.\u00a0 For a more personal, down to earth California wine experience, consider Sonoma, Mendocino, or better still California\u2019s Central Coast, especially Santa Barbara County, the Santa Lucia Highlands, or Paso Robles.\u00a0 In those locales, you\u2019ll more often than not get to talk directly to the folks who make the wine and you\u2019ll get to taste a lot of good wine for a lot less than in Napa Valley.<\/p>\n

And let\u2019s not forget Oregon\u2019s Willamette Valley.\u00a0 It still has a small town, close knit feel, and the wine and food are terrific.\u00a0 Just make sure you book the Oregon trip between June and September before the gray and gloom set in.\u00a0 All of these wine travel destinations offer beautiful scenery, excellent wines and plenty of comfortable accommodations, and they\u2019re right here in the U.S.A.\u00a0 Recently, Washington State\u2019s Columbia River Valley and Walla Walla AVAs as well as Virginia\u2019s Shenandoah Valley provide increasingly interesting wine travel destinations, too, so what are you waiting for?<\/p>\n
