Avery Brewing Company India Pale Ale (IPA)
Adam Avery brews his IPA with a combination of two row pale, Munich, and
caramel malts. Then, he hops it with Columbus hops in 2 separate additions
and dry hops it with both Columbus and Goldings hops. As you might suspect,
look for a seriously hop-dominated earthy and floral hop nose in this filtered,
copper colored, medium-bodied treat. You'll find it very well balanced for
an IPA. One panel member notes, "... something of a marriage between
an aggressively hopped Pacific Northwestern IPA and a traditional spicy
and earthy English IPA." Note a big bitter start with some definite
sweet caramel maltiness evident. Averys IPA finishes very clean, not
too dry. Overall, this is a damn good IPA. Youre gonna love it.

Avery Brewing Company New World Porter
Oh boy are you in for a treat! Avery's New World Porter is unlike any
other that weve ever rated. It has many characteristics of your traditional
Porter, but is really much more and very unique. It's dry-hopped with a
healthy dose of 2 hop varieties: Fuggles and Columbus. First you'll note
that it has awesome head retention. This dark brown to ruby-red, medium-bodied
ale offers you a huge, complex nose up front, consisting of black malts,
roasted barley, and big floral hop tones. You'll find yourself dying to
try it if you attempt to first evaluate the nose! Note that the flavor is
very similar to the nose, only slightly more balanced towards its roasted
malt character. Enjoy a long, lingering dry roasted and slightly bitter
finish.

El Dorado Brewing Company Red Mountain Ale
Real Mountain Ale, El Dorado's flagship ale, is an India Pale Ale (IPA)
that's brewed with a combination of caramel and two row pale malts. Our
panel found it a Cascade hop-fest! The brewery uses Cascade hops in a
multitude of additions during the boil and if that weren't enough, they
dry hop it with them as well! This sweet nectar took 1st place in the
IPA Category at the 1995 CA State Fair Commercial Brewing Competition.
British leading world authority on beer, Michael Jackson, stated that
rating this beer "was like smelling a sack of hops." As you
may have guessed, you'll note a predominantly wonderful Cascade hop nose
up front. Look for great head retention in this filtered, medium-bodied,
copper colored beer. It starts slightly sweet, with a pale malty character
and then moves quickly into an intense Cascade hop flavor that could have
only been attained through dry-hopping. Overall... Wow! We loved it. It's
an excellent interpretation of the style.

El Dorado Brewing Company Trailblazer Stout
El Dorado's TrailBlazer Stout is brewed with a combination of two row
pale, black patent, caramel, and roasted barley malts. The brewery uses
only cluster hops at the start of the boil such that the pleasant roasted
notes aren't masked by an aggressive hop profile. Note a very pleasant,
dark roasted nose up front. You'll find that this medium-bodied, clear,
jet black beer has great head retention. TrailBlazer begins with a bit
of malty sweetness which moves into an aggressive, but flavorful roasted
body that lingers oh so wonderfully. Overall, complex, hugely flavorful,
and well balanced.
