Crooked River Brewery Original ESB
Crooked River's ESB is a rich, amber colored ale, that's clearly brewed in name of English tradition. It's packed with hops, so much so that we were tempted to rate it as an India Pale Ale. One sip and you'll know what it's the brewery's flagship beer and will never leave the menu. Crooked River's ESB is brewed with a combination of 2-row pale, caramel 20, and caramunich malts. Look for a strong, floral Cascade hop aroma up front. In addition to heaps of Cascade hops, the brewery also hops this ale with East Kent Goldings and Yakima Chief Simcoe hops. Note a strong floral hop flavor with some sweet maltiness evident. Overall, a flavor-packed ESB that we think would pair well with a spicy Thai dish.

Crooked River Brewery Irish Red Ale
Crooked River brews this ale to commemorate Cleveland's rich Irish heritage. One of the first things you'll note about this deep reddish brown ale is its heavenly roasted malt aroma. The brewery brews it with a combination of 2-row pale, caramunich, biscuit, and malted wheat, balanced nicely with Vanguard and Cascade hops. Note for a serious malt profile as it should be for an Irish Red Ale. It's a somewhat sweet malty start, but you'll also get a clean tangy hop character and a pleasantly dry, lingering hop finish. Overall, a very complex and full flavored ale that would go well with your favorite veal dish or roasted chicken.

MacTarnahan's Black Watch Cream Porter
Black Watch Cream Porter is a creative and distinct new style of porter which blends both Celtic and Pacific Northwest's interpretation of the style. The brewery uses two row pale, caramel 15 and caramel 40, coupled with East Kent Goldings and Northern Brewer hops to give this tasty ale its well balanced, wonderful roasted flavor and aroma. Immediately note a prominently roasted nose with hints of caramel malts as well. Look for a big caramel malty start followed by overtones of chocolate and roasted malts. Black Watch ends with a clean dark malt finish. Overall, a full flavored porter that would pair up quite well with pork chops or a big T-Bone!

MacTarnahan's Brewery Uncle Otto's Weiss Beer
Uncle Otto's Weiss is clearly not a typical American wheat ale, but rather a true Munich-style wheat beer. The 1516 Reinheitsgebot German Beer Purity Laws don't allow for the use of wheat to brew a beer, however, it was reserved for use in the Royal Brewery. And for several hundred years, wheat ales were only consumed primarily by German royalty.

If you've never had the chance to enjoy a true German style wheat beer, here's a chance to experience a great interpretation of one that we all rated as true to style. This beer pops with flavor. A complex nose offers fruit, a hop spiciness, cloves, and banana esters. You'll see that the nose is a pretty good indication of what is to follow. Uncle Otto's Weiss beer, unfiltered and straw colored, starts with a distinct malted wheat character, which is accented nicely with a spicy cloviness. Look for a dry, lingering finish. We'd recommend drinking it with some Sauerbraten.
